Summary of problems often occurred in die casting process in production process

In the process of die casting die production, we often have problems that we are not expecting.

The melted liquid metal enters the cavity at high pressure and high speed, which produces intense impact and erosion on the surface of the mold forming parts, causes corrosion and wear on the surface of the mold, and the pressure also causes core deflection and bending.

In the filling process, liquid metal, impurities and slag will produce complex chemical effects on the surface of the mold, accelerating the corrosion and cracking of the surface.

The thermal stress is the main reason for the surface crack and even the whole crack of the mold forming parts, which results in the scrap of the mold. In each casting production process, besides the high-speed and high-pressure erosion of the molten metal, the cavity surface also absorbs the heat released during the solidification process of the metal material and produces heat production and exchange. Because of the restriction of heat conduction, the cavity surface first reaches a higher temperature and expands, while the inner mold temperature is relatively low. The expansion is relatively small, resulting in compressive stress on the surface. After the die is opened, the surface of the cavity is contacted with the air, and the tensile stress is generated by the chilling of the compressed air and the paint. When the alternating stress exceeds the fatigue limit of the die material, the surface first produces plastic deformation and cracks will occur in the weak part.
